Living with constant clutter in your home each day can cause extra stress and cost you time and money. You may lead a busy life but by keeping your home life in order day-by-day, you will spend less time tidying in the long run, leaving more time and headspace for what matters most in life.

Simplifying and decluttering your living space does take commitment each day, but the benefits are well worth the effort. Here are 6 tips to get you started:

1. If you take something out to use it, put it back immediately after use.

2. If your home accumulates quite a bit of laundry each week, instead of letting it pile up or lay around the house, commit to washing smaller loads each day, using the economy/small load settings. Finding 10 minutes to do the laundry each day is far easier than finding an hour or two each week on one day.

3. Keep items together in suitable places, in containers. For example: storing plugs in a container, in a bottom drawer of the kitchen

4. Choose suitable homes for items like keys, bags, chargers etc. This will make them easy to find and keep your home clutter free.

5. Assess what it is that you find to be clutter in your home. Do you really need this? If you can live without it, avoid bringing these items into your house again, ever.

6. Don't buy in bulk unless you really have extra storage space. It may seem like a good idea but do you really want to share your limited living space with extra toilet rolls?
